SOCIOS FINANCIEROS is one of Spain’s longest established independent investment banking firms.
The Firm was founded in 1991 by a small group of senior executives with wide ranging corporate finance experience with the objective of creating an independent source of Corporate Finance advice in Spain, serving the middle and upper middle market segments. Teodoro Millán was Managing Director of Benito y Monjardín and responsible for its investment banking unit; Nicholas Walker was Head of M&A for Citigroup (originally Citicorp Investment Bank); Bosco Salaverri was a team leader at Benito y Monjardín.
Five other senior executives have subsequently joined the firm, adding a further international dimension: Laura Satrústegui joined the team in 1997 and became a Partner in 2003 following a career at French bank Banque Indosuez; Mark Parson, formerly Director at HSBC, joined in 2003 and became Partner in 2005; in 2006 José Falgás, formerly Joint Head of Corporate Finance at Deutsche Bank in Spain, joined the Firm as a Partner, having held senior positions for global investment banks in both New York and London; in January 2007, José Antonio Martín de los Santos joined the Firm as a partner, having previously been Head of M&A for Ernst & Young in Spain.
Today, SOCIOS FINANCIEROS comprises 23 professionals based in Madrid. It has a strategic alliance with Hawkpoint, a leading European Corporate advisory firm with a staff of 125 based in London and Paris; it is also the exclusive representative for Spain for the international Mergers and Acquisition network, IMAP, which has 80 offices in 36 different countries throughout the world.
